At ARQ-analítica we conduct archaeometallurgical studies aimed at the characterization and understanding of metal objects from archaeological and heritage contexts. The analysis of these materials allows us to understand the technological processes associated with their production, use, and transformation over time.
Archaeometallurgy provides information on raw materials, manufacturing techniques, casting or forging systems, and possible evidence of use or repair. This data is essential for interpreting a society’s technological level and its relationship with available resources.
Each metal assemblage is studied individually, adapting the analysis to the conservation state of the material and the archaeological context in which it is found. The ARQ-analítica approach is based on technical observation, typological comparison, and an interpretation coherent with the historical and geological framework.
The archaeometallurgical study contributes to better documentation of metallic materials and to a well-founded interpretation of past productive and cultural processes.
